Do low cost Made in Italy belts exist? What is behind it?

Every year in Santa Croce, in Tuscany, the cradle of the Italian tanning tradition, thousands and thousands of leathers are stolen.

Sometimes the thefts occur to the detriment of the tanneries, while at other times, the spoil is stolen also thanks to the help of complacent entrepreneurs who, as in the case of the two Tuscan entrepreneurs who reported the thefts that never occurred at the Valpel Tuscan tannery, aim to have the insurance premium and take out the cargo “illegally”.

But have you ever wondered where these leathers go? Or rather which companies buy them?

Obviously, those that work outside the law: from companies that evade taxes to those that exploit their workers, making them work in bunkers and under slavery. And mind you, I'm not talking about leather goods companies that are located in China: this one that had locked its employees behind a security door in this case is located, or rather was located, in Melito di Napoli.

And once the belts have been made, the waste are simply abandoned, as happened in Castelfiorentino, Montaione, Cerreto Guidi and Fucecchio, municipalities in the provinces of Pisa and Florence, where personnel from the judicial police section of the Florence Public Prosecutor's Office, the forest police of Florence and the municipal police of the Empolese Valdelsa Union of Municipalities found deposits for a total of 24 thousand tons of leather waste; But that's not all: these special waste deriving from the processing of belts had been classified as fertilizer to be illegally disposed of in the fields. Pity that, from the analyzes carried out, it emerged that they were full of substances harmful to humans and to the environment such as hexavalent chromium, one of the six most dangerous pollutants in the world.

But why am I talking about waste? Because for a structured company, disposal is an important cost, just as it is also expensive to purchase products that protect the health of consumers and the environment. But obviously companies that work outside the law don't care.

If you are buying low-cost Made in Italy belts you are almost certainly fostering these companies: you are making yourself an accomplice in a crime! And the problem is that no one has ever told you this until now.

Obviously they do not tell you that the products you are buying are made with stolen leathers or by exploiting workers in conditions of slavery, but the low price that your belt supplier offers you should be a wake-up call.

It’s like if at the supermarket you find a piece of Parmigiano Reggiano for € 2 per kilo: I would never trust to buy it. The price is too low compared to what I usually pay and I would immediately think that there is something wrong behind it: raw materials of very low quality, most likely foreign and a DOP specification not respected.

The same goes for the world of leather goods and above all for that of leather belts.

The low price is a two-sided medal: on the one hand you think you look good with your manager because you have found a seemingly perfect product at a very low price and on the other you bring home a nut to crack.

In fact, you could, or rather your owner could, be accused of "Imprudent purchase", an action punishable even with arrest, which occurs when you buy goods of suspected origin.

All for what seemed like a bargain to you.

A 54-year-old from Trentino knows it well: infact last Christmas he bought a hundred kilos of Grana Padano Riserva at an affordable price, so affordable that he is now being investigated for imprudent purchase and receiving stolen goods as the cheese was found to be stolen.

What if that happens to you and the belts you buy?

Surely you can vouch for the supplier you have today: you know that he would never offer you something stolen or acquired illegally. But despite this it is always better to be on guard.

How?

Surely always choosing serious suppliers, who put theirselves out there and who know how to certify the origins of all the materials that have been used in the realization of your products.

As you can see, I decided to put put myself out there because I'm tired of the bullshit that some of my socalled "colleagues" tell and the negative consequences that companies like yours suffer.

This is why I have also created a guarantee, to make you dream peaceful dreams and ensure that our collaboration runs smoothly like oil: the identity card of the belt.

What does it consist of?

Simple, for each sample you order, you would receive an identity card like this that puts all the information you need and that we defined during the second phase of my working method.

Since I already told you about the identity card in the previous article (which you can read here) I will not repeat myself. Just know that no one else offers you such a tool.

And what does my guarantee mean to you?

It means always having control over all the phases and all the raw materials used for the production of your collection of belts, while for me it means putting on paper what I have always proposed.

Very often some producers offer you particularly advantageous prices, but fail to say that that advantageous price comes from the use of a less valuable raw material.

There is no embarrassment in using a less valuable material if it respects your positioning: the important thing is that the supplier makes you aware of the choice. That’s all.

Don’t you think?

So please, when your supplier give you a too low price remember this article and listen for the alarm bell! You’re better off without him.

Always rely on serious suppliers who put thierselves out there and who know how to guarantee the origin of any material they use for your production of belts, including the place of manufacture.

Before saying goodbye, I remind you to also subscribe to my channel because you absolutely cannot miss the next video: the mistakes everyone makes, including the sales assistant of one of the most famous couture houses: Fendi.

As always, if you have any questions or curiosities, write them to me in the comments or in the e-mail danielgiaconia@outlook.it.

And if my working method and my article have intrigued you and you are willing to take that extra step that has allowed many of my clients to increase their sell-out and their margins.
